its not the price ... its the SIZE

    105 sqm = 1129 sqft for a 5 rm HDB ? thats 4 bedroom + living room ..

assuming total 5 bedroom .. thats about 226 sqft per room ..and i havent even added kitchen

thats MM size all over again ...

if its a studio for 1 person .. understandable ..
this HDB is 4 studios put together .. 4 persons means 4 times more the clutters ..

after what MM said about hdb prices rising with the economy, how can hdb prices go down? govt wont let hdb prices go down coz they want our economy to improve which can only mean rising hdb prices. Also, everyone got to give MM face....

    5-bedrm unit for HDB refers to 3 bedrms + 1 living rm + 1 dining rm. Executive unit comes with 3 bedrms + 1 living rm + 1 dining rm + 1 study rm/bedrm.

In the past (1970s), 5 bedrm units were those 25-storey point block with size of 125sqm. Then slowly those 5bedrm units becomes 110sqm. And now, it is going to 105sqm and lower. Gahmen is satisfying its citizen who wants to own 5-bedrm unit with affordability by reducing the size of units instead, with slight increase in price. Hence, 5 bedrm unit at this prime location doesn't appear too expensive as the size of unit has been reduced.

    so not expensive ?

its like selling chicken rice with rice and chilli only..and no chicken .. and keep the price at $2.50- 3.00 ... so is this plate of chicken rice cheap
if it is sold in prime location, in an ION restuarant ??

I never saw the dining room as a room at all, all I know is that if you enter a HDB and don't see a dining table in the kitchen it means 5 room and bigger flat.....dining room my ass.

105sqm is the size of a 4A model. Some old model 4rm flats can go to as big as 120sqm (including recess area). New model 4A is just 84-90sqm and 5A a tiny 110sqm, really pathetic.

small condo in a good location in the central still okay (i.e. Orchard or D1), but small condo in the suburbs like Jurong is terrible. Imagine living in a low floor tiny condo unit in an already terok and ulu location, the person who buys that is an ultimate goon.....

i drove past centris today - unfortunately you are absolutely right. right smack in a super ulu place with acrid smell in the air - and it looks like the painted walls may not stand the test of time what with the bus terminal and acid rain. is the residents carpark shared with jurong point? traffic there is horrendous

and to Laguna ... whether or not i respect him .. does not change my view of what he looks like ..

If I were to lie about my view, just to show respect to him, I am sure he would lose respect for me ... or respect for anyone who does not speak his mind .. or people who sucks up

Laguna : if I say he looks like Brad (s)pitt, am I showing respect ??

So you are simply saying you respect him for his achievements but can disrespect him by likening his appearance to an ape and assuming he will disrespect you if you had not been truthful about this? If he is a strong Darwin believer, hewill probably agree with you, but if he isn't, he will treat that as an insult. Whether he respects you for saying that boils down to his beliefs.

when one's appearance is ugly ... he is ugly .. he would know that himself ..

just becos i say it ,,does not mean disrespectful ..

if you hold you little child to shake hand with him ..and the child commented .. you look like a monkey ..

    is that disrespectful ?

just becos coming from an adult makes the difference ?

children can be innocent, and adult should lie ?

adults are expected to have social graces but kids are not expected of it to the same extent as that coming from an adult. Imagine you go to a family party with all your relatives there and you start walking around naming your relatives as characters from the zoo and you justify your statements by telling them your comments were childlike innocent, put yourself in their shoes, what would they be thinking about you? They would probably think you need a psychiatric evaluation. You would probably exercise refrain from calling anyone in your family an ape coz they mean something to you. Likewise, the MM do mean something to a lot of Singaporeans especially the fact that he has transformed Singapore from third world to first world, so even if certain things are obvious, people exercise restraint when. i am not trying to say I am all for everything that he has done, but I am not all against him. I respect JB and Chee Soon Juan just as much as I respect MM, coz they are great in their own way.
