If your unit is low floor I think it is alright, but if high floor, climbing on the ladder and looking downwards while cleaning the fan blades may be a daunting task & dangerous

    Aesthetic wise:-
I think it is alright if the ceiling fan design blends in with your balcony theme & also living room when you look outwards. Etc having Chengal wood deck in the balcony, having some potted green plants in planter area, have a Zen-like Mini cascading fountain set & have an outdoor resin furniture set in the balcony area would create a very Balinese & resort feel to your balcony.
    check this out === > http://www.ohmm.sg/

I also thought of having a fan in balcony too but the pros is that it may attract unwanted attention when people glance at your stack , your unit would stand out from the rest as most units would only go for default standard light installed at balcony ...

There is a unit at Blk 50, Stack 1 or 4 High floor unit which have a similar "fan concept" done up. Check it out......

i'm worry about the cleaning and falling off part as well. as for water feature, actually there's a lot of water feature in CM and we can hear the sound of water quite well so may do away with water feature at balcony

Also keep in mind that balcony is prone to wind and rain. Your ceiling fan may not last long.

How big is the Casa Merah balcony? Can it accomodate so many features? (cascading fountain, potted plants...)

Idea sounds good.. but only if the space is there (not niceif the end result is a clutted area)..

Should be decent enough. Plants can be inside the planter box, cascading waterfall facade===> those small/mini type like those sold in Feng Shui shop, you can put it near the sliding doors.
==> Just to create the resort & balinese ambience .

This option may not be ideal for those blocks from 50-56 (near landed area) orientation as there is already cascading waterfall near their units. This can result in too much water noise as correctly pointed out by Doragirl.

Put those water feature where the water flows, there would be hardly any sound.

Just note that there is no power point in the balcony. If you want to put a fountain, you need to get your electrian to connect a socket there.

    Default Grilles

Anybody doing the window grilles? My main contractor helped me to get a contact that can do exactly the same grilles at a lower price that the one Casa Merah recommended. I will be meeting them soon. Will let you know. Current estimate is about $20+ cheaper for each panel...

The MA told me that we can use any contractor, just that the design has to be exactly the same.

if u are putting such water feature at your balcony, are u going to make an electrical point outside? not sure if it's only my unit, the balcony has no electrical point.

i'm planning to do that since it's like getting nowhere with answers. but my contractor say it's better to get them to rectify defects first else they can push the respoinsiblities of defects caused by our contractor.

For my unit, they came down to inspect the defects abt 1 week after I submit the form. They have done about 80% of the defects. In the meantime, I also discovered new. The whole process may take 3 to 4 weeks.

For me, once the flooring defects is settled, I will start reno. The rest of the defects can be done concurrently, subject to my ID saying ok.

I submitted 3 forms on 3 separate days. I consolidate similar defects into 1 line, like "Defects / scratches on Living Room Floor (25 occurrences)".

I think my list quite long. For my first list, it is 2 pages. Subsequent list is about 5-6 items on each list..

    Seems like I super ngeow...

I notice some "hollow" pieces in my bed rooms flooring. There one piece in my master bedroom the developer say they cannot do anything about it. Say it is not hollow, and it is all the same..

I just listen. Then ask them to confirm nothing can be done. They confirmed.
I told them I will ask my contractor about it. If he say it is hollow and can be fixed, I will ask my contractor to do it and send the bill to them, as per the agreement.

The developer immediately repair the hollow piece. It is ok now.
Sometimes cannot listen to them, when more units are taken over, they will be pressured to cut short the retification period.

no lah, u are not the only one. i also reported quite a lot of hollow pieces especially the hall and toilet. i'm still worried are we the only particular one that's y havent start doing ours.

i notice all the units on my floor pasted door defects like scratches and deep stain. i think throughout the one yr still can report on other minor defects to rectify, but tiles things better do before staying in.

can I check - is it necc to check every little corner of the house? do we need to check for scratches or poor finishing even on cupboard? or do we just check major stuff - like crack flooring, walls....etc?
btw, how did u deal with the cupboard that didn't reach the ceiling - did u get a contractor to flush it? am concern about dirt accumulating on top of the cupboard. thanks

I guess it up to you. You can report even the most minor issue and get the contractor to fix it. Some people like me feel that since we spent so much money on the place, might as well get it as perfect as possible. Dunno if the minor defect will cause problem in the future, when it is so much harder to repair.

I'm the type that if I buy a LCD TV with even 1 single dead pixel, I will take back and change.

I also notice a few thing which the contractor did for me only after a few rounds of "complaining". I tot it should be done standard for everyone.

    1. Polishing of marble flooring
    2. Re-varnishing of all bedroom floors
    3. Polishing of all vanity top
    4. Additional "one way" adaptor for water drainers in bathrooms
    5. Oiling of points for sliding doors
    6. Rubber at the bottom of bathroom doors to prevent water from flowing out to toilet area
    7. Chemical wash of balcony to get rid of soldering marks on the tiles.

The contractor is from Wing Tai ,Choice Homes or outsourced to third party?
Notice there is a contractor office at the B1 level carpark, area when you are driving up the carpark slope before reaching the guard house on your right.
