Personally me experience is that it is rather difficult to detect the defects within a day or two of inspection; as we dont stay there. Besides some defects may appear later, for example, when the paintwork in ceiling tears off, or tap water leaks from pipes. These are only observed when we stay in the house. You can still call your ID contractor, and i believe, the defects liability is valid for a year. As long as you report these defects within the validity period, the developer has to rectify them.
