Sino Land's Tan-Wijaya to join Savills as senior director

By Lorna Tan, Finance Correspondent

OVER the past 12 months, Ms Sulian Tan-Wijaya, 43, has worked hard to revamp and re-position One Fullerton with a new tenant mix.

Last night, the waterfront landmark celebrated its new look with a relaunch party, but this held mixed feelings for Ms Tan-Wijaya as she will soon be bidding the place goodbye.

After just over a year with Sino Land as general manager for the Fullerton waterfront properties, she is joining property consultant Savills Singapore on Oct1 as senior director, retail and lifestyle.

Sino Land is the Hong Kong-based sister firm of property giant Far East Organization.

'Savills will be an ideal platform for me to do what I've always loved, being able to work with all business partners in the property, retail, F&B and entertainment industries,' said Ms Tan-Wijaya, when contacted by The Straits Times.

In addition to overseeing Savills' retail agency and consultancy team, she will also be part of the Savills Singapore management team and be actively engaged in general business development, as well as assisting in the luxury residential and prestige homes divisions.

Mr Michael Ng, managing director of Savills Singapore, believes Ms Tan-Wijaya will bring much depth and experience to the Savills retail team. 'This is especially in view of exciting changes ahead, with the completion of the two integrated resorts and many new shopping and lifestyle malls.'

At Sino Land, she was responsible for the marketing, branding, public relations and leasing of all rental properties at The Fullerton Heritage, which includes One Fullerton, Clifford Pier, Customs House, The Fullerton Waterboat House, The Fullerton Hotel and Fullerton Bay Hotel.

Looking back, Ms Tan-Wijaya said it had been 'satisfying' to see how nicely the market and tenant re-positioning of One Fullerton had turned out.

Some of the high-profile food and beverage tenants she brought in include modern Cantonese restaurant Jing, by the people behind the Majestic Restaurant and Bar; Italian fine-dining restaurant Forlino; and modern eatery Over Easy, a collaboration between the owners of The Butter Factory and White Rabbit.

Before Sino Land, Ms Tan-Wijaya, a mother of two, was a director at Singapore Tourism Board, as well as general manager of Wisma Atria and Capital Square.
