Alert condo resident helps nab housebreaking duo

AN alert resident foiled an attempted break-in which led to the arrest of two youths who are believed to be involved in several break-ins at a condominium along River Valley Road.

The resident saw two youths behaving suspiciously near the back of her unit on Tuesday at about 11.25am and alerted the security officer.

The pair fled when they saw the security officer coming towards them.

Together with his colleague, the security officer managed to stop one of them and called the police.

His accomplice was later arrested at his home.

Further investigations revealed that the two youths were believed to be involved in more than 15 break-ins at the said condominium. Units with unsecured windows and doors were usually targeted and cash and valuables amounting to about $12,000 were stolen.

The two youths, aged 14 and 15, will be charged in the Juvenile Courts on Thursday.
