MCC Land, the Chinese developer of the 626-unit The Alps Residences in Tampines, sold 270 units on the project's launch day on Sunday, the company said in a media statement.

The one-bedroom and two-bedroom units made up 88 per cent of the units sold. Prices of the one-bedroom units were between S$491,000 and S$538,000; those of two-bedroom units went for at least S$693,000, and for as much as S$806,000.

The four-bedroom units went for as much as S$1.44 million.

"We attribute the strong response to the highly efficient unit designs as well as competitive prices. There seems to be a pent-up demand in Tampines which has seen no new condominium launch since The Santorini, also a MCC Land project, in April 2014," said a spokesman of The Alps Residences.

The 99-year-lease condominium project will be built on Tampines Avenue 10. The site is close to the Bedok Reservoir Park and the Tampines Quarry Park. The Singapore University of Technology and Design, a new university, will be close by. Other schools in the area include St Hilda's Primary School, Junyuan Secondary School, Tampines Junior College, and Temasek Polytechnic.
