SINGAPORE - Social media cheered the ephemeral appearance of a double rainbow that spanned the skies of Singapore after a light shower on Wednesday morning.

"Starting the day with a rainbow in the sky! Gonna be a good one! ," wrote Twitter user, Chay Chee.

The rainbow was sighted mostly in the western and northwestern parts of the island.

In Chinese culture, a double rainbow is considered auspicious and a reason for reflection and meditation.

Rainbows are an optical and meteorological phenomenon in which a spectrum of light appears in the sky when the sun shines on droplets of moisture in the earth’s atmosphere.
