Unlike most major economies, Singapore’s central bank manages the exchange rate, rather than the interest rate, and has done so since 1981. A small and open economy, Singapore is highly dependent on trade. The Singapore dollar’s strength relative to other currencies can thus influence prices significantly. Also, the exchange rate is relatively easy for the central bank to control – by buying and selling Singapore dollars. By choosing to manage the exchange rate, MAS gives up control over domestic interest rates. As capital flows in and out freely, interest rates are largely determined by foreign interest rates and how investors expect the Singapore dollar to move.

Despite the Federal Reserve tapering off its monthly bond-buying purchases, Fed Chair Janet Yellen confirmed that low interest rates are here to stay for a little longer amid very poor labor market conditions. The United States central bank confirmed that it does not have any immediate plans to raise a key short-term rate in the near future. The purpose of the bond acquisitions is to assist in keeping long-term loan rates low – the Fed argues that any increase in the short-term rate would increase borrowing costs and diminish stock prices.

    right? Depend.

If you use SGD to Buy USD this is what you going to get regardless of interest rate.

But they still supply a lot of money leh. Look at their debt clock

Default European Central Bank will start to print soon.

The European Central Bank has signalled that it is ready to leap into the unknown by unleashing quantitative easing as dangerously low inflation threatens the tentative European recovery.

But ECB president Mario Draghi is not ready to press the QE button just yet, even though euro zone inflation, at 0.5 per cent in March, is at its lowest level since late 2009 and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is urging him to swing into action.

Why IMF did not tell Thailand to print during AFC

    Thailand economy is too small.
If u owe bank a little money, u are worry, the bank not worry.
If u owe bank a lot of money, its the bank that worry, u are not worry.

The ECB will bend up side down to make sure the EU economy recover.

If u are small borrower, bank will ask u to do austerity
If u are big borrower, bank will ask u to do more stimulus
