from the map, is there any difference old and new location?
unless they intend to build a branch road inbetween the old and new location?

I am talking about the situation in general. Cars waiting to pick up kids and dropping off passengers do not spare a thought for other road users during peak hours. Do u agree?

I do not practise that myself. No solution for u as i do not advocate dropping off passengers illegally along a busy road. U may try dropping off aljunied mrt by turning into public carpark.

Riverine by the park's residents going to city will benefit from this ERP gantry shift . Nevertheless if they return home from Geylang Road, they will have to pay ..which is unlikely druing 7.30am to 9.30am period. Congratulations to them ......

Does anyone know why LTA is widening the road? Are they preparing the infrastructure to facilities the development of Kallang area?

Can still go via Lorong 3, then Boon Keng Rd, then Lorong 1 to Kallang MRT without passing through the new ERP gantry.

    Road Improvements in Kallang Area

What are the road improvements in Kallang area?

The main scope of the project involves widening stretches of Kallang Road, Sims Avenue, Geylang Road, Sims Way, Mountbatten Road, Fort Road and Nicoll Highway by one lane.
We are also widening Sir Arthur's Bridge, the bridge at Sims Avenue across Kallang River, the bridge at Mountbatten Road across Geylang River and Merdeka Bridge.
A new vehicular underpass will be constructed at the junction of Nicoll Highway, Sims Way and Guillemard Road. Eight traffic junctions in the Kallang area will also be widened.
The construction works started in the first quarter of 2012.
See Award of Contract for Widening of Roads in Kallang Area
    See ONE.MOTORING for more info.

When will the road improvement works complete?

The road widening and junction improvements are expected to complete by 2014 while the new vehicular underpass is expected to complete by 2016.

    How will this benefit motorists?

The road widening works in Kallang area support the upcoming developments in the area, which include Kallang Riverside, the Sports Hub (a 55,000-capacity stadium), and Kallang Industrial Estate.
With traffic in the area expected to grow in the next 10 years, these road improvements will help minimise congestion and improve connectivity for our motorists.
