JOHOR BARU - Three Singaporeans, a Malaysian with Singapore permanent resident status and a Bangladeshi were charged at a Sessions court here Monday over five separate bribery cases.
The five men were charged under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act with offering bribes of between RM50 (S$19.20) and RM500 (S$192) to Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) officers, a traffic police officer and a Johor Baru City Council officer respectively.
Goh Siew Guan, 39, Singaporeans Segaran Naidu, 58, and Shaik Mohamed Shaik Zain, 68, and Bangladesh national Shiplu, 23, pleaded guilty to their respective charges read before judge Mohamad Haldar Abdul Aziz.
They were each ordered to serve a day's jail and fined RM10,000, in default six months' imprisonment.
Singaporean Lee Mong Seng, 70, pleaded not guilty to his charge of offering SGD$200 (RM500) to a SPAD enforcement officer around 11.20am on Oct 26 as an inducement over driving a public transport vehicle into Malaysia without a permit.
Mohamad Haldar set bail at RM10,000 and fixed Jan 19 for next mention.
