How would you feel when someone asks: "Why don't Singaporeans try to speak proper English?"
Undergraduate Grace Teng (above), 24, saw red. The New York University student was annoyed that the person who posed the query was implying that Singlish was inferior and Singlish speakers were incompetent.
Her analysis of why Singlish should not be considered "bad English" has gone viral, picking up virtual thumbs-up from Singaporeans and expatriates alike.
Local author Casey Chen, on the other hand, is flying the flag by giving a well-loved fairy tale the Singlish treatment.
Chen, who wrote The Three Little Pigs Lah, says “I exaggerated its use to show how funny Singlish can be."

If someone judges a person based on how well his English is .... That is sad.

Everyone is unique by itself.

I tend to think Singlish as a form of dialect. So it is better to learn proper English.
Singlish can be spoken at home n with close friends n for tcss in forum.
Other than that, proper English should be used.
So imho that book is more for entertainment and should be classified as PG.
No child should be allowed to read it without supervision by an adult.

How about stand but for internet short hand! How would everyone feel if all start to speak like that?

When in Rome do what the roman does. After all u are trying to communicate. Not exert one culture heritage . There is a right place n time for everything.

I personally think that book will not sell well.

When we were in US having military exercise with them, they can listen to all our conversion and understand what we are doing next over the air. We then decided to switch to Singlish and local dialect and they start to cry not fair.
