Hostel residents in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) are in an uproar after university authorities conducted a series of random room checks in the night.
Some students said these checks were done between 1am and 7am, and were a breach of their privacy. But an NTU spokesman said the checks usually occur at 6am to 7am.
Last month,
The New Paper reported that residents were renting out their rooms for profit. Following that report, TNP understands that NTU has been conducting surprise checks at its 16 hostels, known as halls of residence.
Read the full report in The New Paper on Friday (Oct 25).
