Haze hits highest level since 1997 & indo currency depreciating sounds like a repeat of the Asian financial crisis.

I feel suffocated inside my house, couldn't open the window as I do not want the haze to "flow" into my house. Feel so hot, can only use the fan as my aircond is spoilt.

Mozzies have bad sight and cannot fly in turbulent haze. In the end they crash and die.

You are right.. but the 97 case was simply horrendous. Think it hit 2xx psi. I remembered I was walking on the street and can barely see more than 50m ahead.... Today's condition is catching up man...

Yes, yes I remember the haze of 1997.
It was somewhere in the 3rd quarter of the year.
I remembered the haze entering the house.
As for the financial crisis, I was unaware of it at that time.

Is this haze thingy and Indonesian currency thing something like the Hindenburg omen ?

Nothing is going to happen until the haze hits Jakarta.

Point the fan in Jakarta's direction.

those oil palm companies listed on SGX like Wilmar, First Resources, Golden Agri, are they considered SG companies?

well, usually overthere, they called it "terbakar" as in accidentally caught fire by an act of G. and not "membakar" or "dibakar", which involves human active participation.

If for example, your house burn accidentally and fire spreads to neighbour's house, who has to pay for neighbour's damage?

Or even if neighbour's house not burnt, but soot make the whole house black, who has to pay for the cleaning of the house?

your first question - insurer, or else it's gg. accident, not arson. even if it's arson, the guy will be jailed. if there's negligence, then lodge a civil case to claim damages.
    second question - own pocket

what they say is true, they dont burn (membakar). the things got burnt (terbakar).
when it is dry season, like 2 months or more, stuff get burnt easily, like from cigar stubs. so not, they dont do burning.

always watch out for the grammar used.

    certainly, i know that.

i just find it amusing that when confronted, one can blame thy neighbour for the smoke happening in one's backyard.

that's like saying because you look ugly, that's why my cooking sucks

Haze getting really bad, when hotspots go up in future when demand for oil palm rises, psi may hit above 200, our country as a desired venue for expat will go down the drain
