Far East executive director is new head of Redas

THE Real Estate Developers' Association of Singapore (Redas) elected a new president yesterday.
Mr Chia Boon Kuah, executive director and chief operating officer of property sales at privately held Far East Organization (FEO), will head the industry body for the next two years.
He takes over from Mr Wong Heang Fine, chief executive of CapitaLand Residential Singapore.
Mr Chia, 55, spent 20 years at Singapore Airlines, working in global sales, marketing and general management, before joining FEO in 2003.
He is responsible for the business planning and positioning of the sale of Far East's residential, commercial and industrial properties and steering marketing activities regionally and locally.
Mr Chia is also the non-executive director of FEO Hospitality Asset Management and FEO Hospitality Trust Management.
Experts say that his appointment comes at a crucial time as developers adjust to the seventh round of property cooling measures, unveiled early last month in a bid to keep a lid on prices.
City Developments group general manager Chia Ngiang Hong will be first vice-president at Redas, while Frasers Centrepoint chief executive Lim Ee Seng is second vice-president. Their roles were reversed in the previous term.
