Default We will be hearing more of these sad stories

Sub-standard medical care for citizens. The root of the problem is very deep and difficult to solve.

Aiya....I tot you mean more sad stories on people who MTB on housing.
That case is very unfortunate but I don't think the class matters.
But I agree with you that it is a must to be paying class if you can afford it. I won't settle for anything less.

quite surprised that so many others, like me, had very bad experience at ttsh. for my case I had to seek another specialist opinion who gave very different diagnosis. turns out that the specialist is right. my conclusion: why waste money at ttsh and keep those carp service running and cause more harm than good probably they will say and show you proof with figures that such cases is only a handful out of the thousands of cases they attended. just like the train case only few cases out of hundreds of thousands commuters mah

Is there really a diff if you get class A or B1 in a restructured hospital? I feel they kind of assign the same doc with same bunch of housemen docs be it in any class ward you are in? Or is it a one off that I exp.

I had an experience with Polyclinic & SGH.

    Polyclinics -
I have some bowel problem, so went to Polyclinic to check. I told the doctor that "Don't know whether my intestine has any problem or not." Without checking, she wanted to refer me to SGH but I told her that I'll see how is it, if I don't go, is okay, right? You know what she said, she said: " You want to go, then I write the refer letter, if not, don't waste my time." So I go ahead with the SGH checkup.

    SGH -
The doctor had a quick check and asked me to go for my x-ray. Few days later, I went back to the same doctor for my x-ray result. Without checking, he told me to go for my x-ray again but I told him that I had just had my x-ray few days back and he checked his computer, and said: "oh yes."

Pls don't get the impression that private hosp must be e best. If u r unsure of yr medical condition, better to go to public hosp for the primary diagnosis first (u may pay private rate to cut short yr waiting time), once u know what u need to be treated, then can go find big name docs for the necc treatments. Public docs do not own the business and do not have as much vested interest, so more impartial in referring u for the necessary treatments.

Thats speaking from personal experience, v v v unpleasant one. Don't wish to spell myself too clearly here though...

Let me share my encounters, all at SGH

First my FIL, very high pressure in his eye. The doctors at the A&E were careful with him. Checking everything, the treatment was very gentle. But, the waiting time is killing especially the eye centre for the subsequent visits.

Next, my mother, a minor fracture, also treated very well.

Finally, my personal encounter at SGH, thumb up.

SGH is the only hospital I will go.

Yes. SGH is the only public hospital to go to.
    Best doctors there.

They also have private paying and public subsidized patients.
Just go as Private patient and your appointment dates will be faster than the subsidy patients. Also, you can choose the doctor. If you want more senior one, just request. Don't go for junior ones, you are guinea pig

Eg, MRI scan subsidy patient might need to wait for 3 months or depending on availability. Private patients within the week can go already.
