Default The New 5Cs for the new generation

Is that why parents are worried for them and buying up condos for them in advance?

    I call them Gen-D, D for Dreamers

Actually with Control (mind control ur parents), Confidence (ask Sentosa Cove residents give you free sports car), Career (under table govt officer), probably also can achieve the traditional 5C easily, and then some.

    No wonder everything also CAN.

    -------

Forget the old "five Cs" when it comes to the priorities of most Singaporeans these days.

Now, intangibles such as control, confidence, community and career are more important than material gain here, according to a survey by OCBC Bank.

Another is "can" in the sense of having a can-do attitude.

These non-material "new" five Cs, as the survey calls them, have supplanted the traditional five Cs - cash, car, condominium, country club membership and credit card.

My neighbor's grownup kids all have no intention to work. All just want to do charity work only. So noble. So compassionate.
Each also has a BMW given by the father to fulfill their mission.
Yea sure new generation "less materialistic"

Wow...... what kind of neighbourhood do you live in that they are so rich till they don't need to work for money?

I feel that if one is a working class person, there is less time for charity but everyone should be responsible and take care of oneself, family and pets.

However if one has extreme wealth that one can generate income without working, then one should do charity work.

That generation is brought up to believe that every child is special and is a genius, when most in reality are just a average and mediocre. So they don't want to settle for a boring 9 to 5 office job. So all gravitate towards setting up cafes, coffee joints, bistros or some social enterprise using their parents money, or they dream of becoming a superstar. Look at the number of coffee joints and drinking holes and FnB outlets springing up every day selling European cuisine. Just be a boss that's their dream. And the easiest thing to do is set up FnB that doesn't require much talent. Just hire a decorator and a chef.

How come nowadays so many new permutations of 5Cs? Maslow has already laid it out many years ago with his hierachy of needs structure. Till today it still stands. Emotional and self actualisation comes after your basic physiologically needs and a roof over your head is met.
