Four U.S.-based high frequency trading firms are banding together to champion high-speed trading before regulators and the public.

High-speed or automated trading has been blamed for distorting the markets and leaving smaller investors out in the cold.

High-frequency traders move rapidly in and out of stocks and commodities to capture fleeting shifts in prices. They commonly use proprietary algorithms, state-of-the-art computers and ultrafast connections to exchanges to make quick and frequent trades.

But they are implicated in some big market swings, including a “flash crash” on May 6, 2010 that caused wild swings on the Dow and another in April 2013, in which a false tweet sent markets reeling.

I witnessed the Flash Crash of 2010, 1st hand

DJ crashed more than a 1000points within minutes !!!
Whole market was stunned as small queue buyers were thrown at unbelievable level all the way down.
Then suddenly NO BUYER at all the level

When real buyers stepped in, it was followed through selling by PANIC sellers (sell first talk later attitude)...............the rest history.................

    EVERYTHING IS MANIPULATED.
GOLD , SLIVER , OIL , Libor , Sibor , Currency , Stock market, interest rate , US/China government data etc etc.

Don’t Be Manipulated By it. Never never believe what you HEAR & READ & WATCH from the stock analyst.

Regardless of whatever they do, there is no denying fact that the company is significantly leveraged compared to other listed companies, and when interest rate goes up, such companies may be affected much more adversely than others. Avoid!

Accumulators ("I kill you later") are financial derivative products sold by an issuer (seller) to investors (the buyer) that require the issuer to sell shares of some underlying security at a predetermined strike price, settled periodically.[1] This allows the investor to "accumulate" holdings in the underlying security over the term of the contract (12 mths).

The equity accumulator enables an investor to "accumulate" stocks at a discount to the market. If you were to purchase an accumulator today on example China Mobile or ICBC stock, it would mean that you would start to purchase shares in these companies at about a 10 to 15 per cent discount to their trading price. If you were like me, when your banker pitched this product, you probably thought he was crazy to offer this deal. Turns out that you would be crazy to fall for it.

The bank launched a accumulator on Capitalmall Asia in Oct 2013.
Accumulation period = Oct 13 to Oct 14.
    Min S$1m.
    Spot price = $1.995.
    Knock out = 1.0512 % or $2.097 (1.0512X1995)
    Strike price (buy ) = 91.47% or $1.825 (1.995X91.47%).
    Settlement period = calendar month
    Today price is $1.715.

Surprisingly, most clients go for the capitalmall asia equity accumulator @ a high Spot price @1.995 in Oct 2013. Now the clients are losing 6% base on their buy price @1.82.
