Default Amy Cheong tak boleh tahan

Foreign Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam said the comments "are shameful and completely unacceptable" and added that "this confirms what I had long suspected and said: there are deep fault lines in our society, based on race/religion":

Ex-NTUC staff Amy Cheong's Facebook comments have confirmed that there are "deep fault lines" based on race/religion in Singapore society, said Foreign Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam today.
Ms Cheong had posted a comment on Malay weddings at void decks on her personal Facebook page on Sunday. In response, the NTUC today said it terminated the services of Ms Cheong, who was an Assistant Director in its Membership Department.
Noting that the emergence of the Internet and social media "frees some people to say what is really in their hearts", Mr Shanmugam said: " Her comments reflect a deep seated racist attitude coupled with contempt for those who are less well off, or who wish to spend less."[4]

Know Of some australians who like to use such vulgar words. It could be her husband and not her. Tolerance level of singapore-born people should be higher. He might not be able to be a citizen if husband admits it.

if you were school here and live most of yr life here 90%. Saying the national pledge " regardless of race language or religion", a common identity or DNA that is very singaporean would have been in build.

I tend to believe either she s a newly minted PR or hard core xeno. Why would anyone engage in such racist hate?

singapore is not all about infrastructure and safe environment. Its the incredible melting pot of different talent with different races living in harmony. We may not totally agreed with what the FT policy or behaviour aspect. But we were never brought up to differentiate the different race that were born in singapore.

seeing this post is truly an eye opener. Worst if this is a deep seated emotion that is never bought to light. If not discuss as a singapore conversation, it must be fully address before it leads to more tension.

can you imagine the amount of turmoil if the 2.x million immigrant that is of the same country start to think otherwise of the sngapore identity? It will be a serious consequence not just in the work force, but everywhere

All the sounds are to celebrate living, like Lion dance and seventh month getai. I have attended Malay weddings and it is great fun. Relatives karaoke and all.

This is blown way out of proportion in my opinion.

    - in amy's case, she gets fired for racial abuse.
    - in footballer's case (Luis Suárez), he only gets 8 match banned for racial abuse.

p.s. and footballers are way highly paid than this Amy.
