    Default guilty until proven innocent.

anybody read yesterday article about CPIB?
    this paragraph strike me

He said: "We strengthened the laws against corruption, gave CPIB officers more powers of interrogation and to seize documents. We introduced a fundamental change in the law on burden of proof that if a man possesses more assets than his known income, he is presumed to be corrupt and he must account for his assets beyond what he earns."

whatever happened to the concept of innocent until proven guilty?

    actually not good le

if innocent until proven guilty, usually have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the person is guilty.
now if guilty until proven innocent, now have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the person is innocent.
i wonder how come those civil societies, constitutional experts dont make any noise this?

    from reading too much zerohedge:
    benjamin franklin:
"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

    martin-niemöller:
"First they came for the communists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the socialists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
    Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me."
