Default New "IN" thing beside the location to help boost property price - Primary school?

    http://www.edvantage.com.sg/edvantag...r_primary.html

Beside location, location, location. Will primary school become the next "IN" thing to boost property price? I know Ai Tong is one of the reaason that Bishan can command such high premuim.

I would think proximity to good primary schools is also part of "location, location, location"

looking at this year P1 registration, Rulang became the top competitive school. It become so popular after last year produced a Top student. I believe this definitely help to boost the surrounding price, especially within 1km. Parents (PR/Citizen)now really willing to pay premium just to be less than 1km from top school

Primary Schools have pretty much always been a reason for people buying where they do......a good reason why shoebox homes are also often located near good schools even though they are not big enough for the family that's supposed to be at the school.

Its not a new "in" thing at all lah. Kiasu parents not from "elite" schools moving within 1km of "elite" schools to give their children something they were deprived of has been around for eons. just look at some of the forum threads 2-5 years ago and some forummers clearly are in situation similar to yowetan - when their purchase requirement centers around only one criteria and nothing else - within 1km of whatever school because the parents have no affiliation. Just go to kiasuparents website and see the extent some parents will do (rent mailbox lah, whole family squeeze into mm lah, rent unit lah) to give their children sth they were deprived of. all their dreams on their kids.

In fact I think the 1km tingy is becoming less attractive, because the "elite" schools even need to ballot within 1km together with the volunteers. So what for? doesn't mean your child will auto become smart just because he goes to whatever school.

last time only a few selected school like Ai Tong, Tao Nan that can be selling point. but now you look at the trend, many schools even neighbourhood school are facing fierce competition. it seems like the "school" thingy is spreading to many parts of the island and not jus confine at selected area.

When was this the "new" in thing? Schools are always top of every buyer's mind when deciding on the property and the price to pay.
