this bendemeer light is just next to City View DBSS right? So whats the diff between the premium contract & DBSS?? I remember city view selling about 520K min for 4rm right...almost 70k more...Hrmm... pricing of Bendemeer Light & McNair Towers 4 room flats $467,000 - $595,000.

My guess is probably those who sold all their pvt away at loss for eg, due to financial difficulties or business wound up, spouse passed away cant sustain pvt alone, and no income coz cant find job as a result of depression etc. So no need wait 30 mths after disposal to buy BTO. Something like that...

HDB launches 6 new BTO projects
The Housing Board (HDB) launched six BTO projects today, offering 4,627 new flats in three non-mature towns (Choa Chu Kang, Punggol, and Sengkang) and one mature town (Kallang/Whampoa).
This is the third BTO launch this year.
At least 95 per cent and 85 per cent of the BTO flat supply (excluding Studio Apartments) in mature towns and non-mature towns respectively will be set aside for first-timers. Eligible first-timer households can also enjoy various housing grants to help them own a new BTO flat.
Compassvale Boardwalk will have 4-room and 5-room flats ranging from $275,000 to $334,000. Bounded by Sengkang East Road, Compassvale Street and Compassvale Crescent, it is a standard contract with 474 flats, comprising 252 units of 4-room and 222 units of 5-room flats. A childcare centre will be provided in this development, with the Cheng Lim LRT station within walking distance.
Keat Hong Pride is located along Brickland Road and Choa Chu Kang Avenue 6. It is a standard contract with 1,143 flats, comprising 80 units of 3-room, 656 units of 4-room and 407 units of 5-room flats. An eating house, mini-mart, shops, a childcare centre and a Residents' Committee (RC) centre will be provided. The Keat Hong LRT and South View LRT stations are near to the development. Prices will range from $138,000 to $274,000.
Prices for Punggol Edge & Waterway SunDew, which are designed with eco-friendly features, will range from $163,000 to $316,000.
Punggol Edge, which is bounded by Edgedale Plains and Tampines Expressway (TPE), s a standard contract with a mix of homeownership flats (5 blocks with 688 flats comprising 128 units of 3-room, 400 units of 4-room and 160 units of 5-room flats offered for sale under May 2012 BTO Exercise) and one block of 446 rental flats comprising 170 units of 1-room rental flats and 276 units of 2-room rental flats). A mini-mart and shops will be provided in this development.
HDB says Punggol Edge is not the first contract where HDB build both homeownership flats (to be offered under BTO) and rental flats. It will also continue to offer such developments.
The other project, Waterway SunDew is located at Edgedale Plains and fronting My Waterway@Punggol in Punggol Town. It is a premium contract with 837 flats, comprising 152 units of 3-room, 423 units of 4-room and 262 units of 5-room flats. A supermarket, an eating house, shops and a Residents' Committee (RC) centre will be provided in this development.
Bendemeer Light, located along Bendemeer Road, is a standard contract with 624 flats, comprising 212 units of 3-room and 412 units of 4-room flats. Prices will range from $322,000 to $452,000.
Located at McNair Road and next to Sungei Whampoa is McNair Towers. It is a premium contract with 861 flats, comprising 270 units of Studio Apartments, 115 units of 3-room and 476 units of 4-room flats. An Integrated Day Care & Service Centre for Seniors will be provided in this development. Studio apartments will cost $124,000 while prices for the three- and four-room flats will range from $322,000 to $452,000.
Applications for the new flats launched can be submitted online from today, May 30 until Tuesday, June 5.
HDB will be offering about 3,900 new flats for sale in Bedok, Bukit Merah, Clementi, Geylang, and Punggol in July this year.

McNair Road is named after John Frederick Adolphus McNair of the Royal Artillery. He is well known in Singapore's history as the Executive Engineer and Superintendent of Convicts in the Straits Settlements. He was also in charge of Public Works and the Oriental Goal in Singapore.
He has also a place in our his as the engineer who was in charge for the construction of the Government House (now the Istana) and St Andrew's Cathedral – one of present – day Singapore's landmarks.
McNair, at the age of 17, left England as an employee of the East India Company, for Madras, India, in 1846. In 1853, he was transferred to Malacca to take charge of the Madras Native Artillery. He worked under JB Westerhout, the Adviser to the government.
In England, he had studied Geology and had collected large specimens of metal and exported them to Madras. Later, when he was posted to Labuan to take charge of the Artillery, he traveled all over Borneo and collected valuable shells which are now in the British Museum.
When he was posted back to Singapore, he was appointed Private Secretary and also ADC to the Governor. When the Indian Mutiny started in India in 1857, McNair was appointed Executive Engineer and Superintendent of Convicts in the Straits Settlements (Penang, Malacca and Singapore). He was also in charge of Public Works and the Oriental Soul.
McNair studied Hindustani and was fluent in it. This was indeed advantageous as he could converse with the Indian convicts. There were a large number of convicts who were housed in the grounds opposite the present Asian Arts Museum (the former St Joseph's Institution) at Bras Basah Road. He had only one Assistant, a European warden because the petty officers were selected amongst the convicts themselves.
The convicts made tools for use in different trades. The Indian convicts constructed the long roads across Singapore. They helped to build the St Andrews Cathedral and the Government House (the Istana).
In 1861, McNair went to England and learnt photography to take pictures of Indian convicts. He returned to England again in 1867 and accompanied the new Governor, Harry Ord, when the control of the Straits Settlements was transferred from the India Office to the Colonial Office in 1867.
Having been appointed the Colonial Engineer, his main task was to build the Water Works. There were several failures in this project and finally through his efforts, water ran through the pipes.
In 1875, McNair had rather a special appointment as Chief Commissioner in Perak during the difficult times in the history of Perak. Two years later, he was promoted as Resident Councilor of Penang, an appointment he relinquished on medical grounds in 1884 after having served with distinction in the Straits Settlements especially in Singapore. He had also served in several learned societies and at one time even acted as Colonial Secretary in Singapore.
McNair had also undertaken several missions to Siam, (Thailand) and neighbouring countries. The King of Siam gave him the title – Order of the White Elephant – and he was made a CMG in 1879 by the British monarchy.
Mc Nair was regarded as a kind and hospitable person; he was also courteous. All, who were employed under him including the convicts, remembered him fondly.
