    Default Can Ex-Singaporeans own landed???

My wife has some friend's relatives were Chinese Nationals who emigrated to S'pore in the mid 90s and converted to Singapore citizenship.

THey have since bought not 1, but 2 landed semi-Ds!

Now, the husband and wife are thinking giving up S'pore citizenship and returning to China to retire. They still have a retirement pension waiting for them having served in the military there.

So the question is can they still retain their landed. I thought landed was for citizens (and some PRs) only??

If they can do that, then can't many other foreigners do the same. COnvert to citizen to buy property. Then give up citizenship and go home. Can't imagine if all the PRCs do that, we will have no more landed belonging to local true blue Singaporeans!

Those who renounce their citizenship or Permanent Residency are to sell their restricted residential properties in two years.

What is restricted residential property under the Residential Property Act?
A foreign person cannot acquire or purchase restricted residential property unless he obtains the prior approval of the Minister for Law. Such property includes:
    a. vacant residential land
    b. landed property [i.e detached house, semi-detached house, terrace house (including linked house or townhouse)]; and
    c. landed property in strata developments which are not approved condominium developments under the Planning Act.
