You have more choice in Indonesia. Below is one of the example. With some minor touch up will cost you around SGD 200k in total.

Depok is more than 20km from jakarta. Forget retiring in that kind of house. The roof is still wooden termite infested structure, the drainage is clogging everywhere, the electrical is fire hazzard. The traffic jam in Depok is legendary. Its faster to go to sg from jakarta than to go to depok.

Agree with the traffic jam. But we are talking about retirement time, so no need to worry about rushing to work or stuck in the traffic.

    2) singapore promoting its best salaries, so many foreigners come to enjoy until "expensive" local PMETs have to drive taxis.
    3) singapore promoting its best housing, so many foreigners come to enjoy until most locals have to stay in HDB instead of condos, and those that stay in condos have to take 30 year mortgage. also last time, school principal can buy 2 (not 1, but 2!!! ) bungalow, now school principal only can buy 1000sqft airspace.

so stalingrad, shhh, keep quiet and dont brag about how great canada is: Don't attract more foreigners to drive up housing prices and lower incomes. better learn from singapore's lesson.

so you better turn around and say:

    just a friendly advice

I guess it's a long history. Not sure and can't remember when it began.

Maybe you were provoked to respond.

Ok I apologise and will refrain from judging but maybe don't need to respond to provocations?

    Have fun in Canada! Peace.

From the sentences we can see a person's character. Who is he to rate our medical standard . How many PMET drive taxi and their real reasons? School principal buy 2 bungalows. It was achievable when SG was a kampong. All this benchmark for good country? Scary if is real in developed country and in a city.

Anyone can migrate but don't just pinpoint the cons and mislead the ppl who read this forum. I'm just a average guy. To me if you are capable most of the countries are good. If you are average just be contented like me. Don't even need 1 bungalow just 5 room HDB will do.

Why I said scary because let say presently singapore have est 60 principals, how about retired one? 33000 teachers ,if 2 bungalows to 1 principle and retired one and teachers also want 1 bungalow each. You say scary or not?

that kind of psf in 2009 was probably bought from far east with like 4 or 5% rental guarantee for x number of years back then.

the price during the peak was a really rip-off, and at 1270psf it seems a good buy for own-stay

I think at the end of this year or next year, we can have a thread "A few OCR transactions sold at a loss"
