Hi JSH,
from the Infiniti's sidegate's overhead bridge, is it of walkable distance to Nan Hua Primary?
Yes u can walk to Nan Hua Primary. U can check on Google Map for the route & distance. Walk through the landed housing estate of Faber.Originally Posted by amidala
Anyone staying in units facing AYE? Is the constant rumble from AYE annoying, or become un-noticeable after a while?
Visited some frzs on the high floor, and with the slding balcony doors closed.Originally Posted by jonleelk
Not much of rumbling from AYE. Never on the TV or Aircon.
But of coz standing out at the balcony,is noisy.
Not warm with sliding balcony doors closed? Standing out at the balcony will definitly be noisy. I am wondering if sitting on the sofa in the living room with sliding doors open...whether still noisy or not.Originally Posted by jwong71
Not warm as had some windows on the other slide open, not facing AYE.Originally Posted by jonleelk
I reckon it will be noisy with doors open, especially without switching on a TV and during the Peak hrs.
anybody knows what are the prices quoted for 3 bedroom?
While passing by Infiniti along AYE, what catches me are the colourful laundries hanging in the balconies of so many units.Originally Posted by jonleelk
Because the AYE facing units gets the full coverage of morning sun the balconies are the best drying ledges!!Originally Posted by Lucas

correct me if I m wrong... It really depend how comfortable the family culture in hanging out laundry for public to see, unless from the yard. The angmo would never do that usually.... The management office has to do its part. If not soon enough big colorful king size bedsheets will be hanging over the railings in the condo it will give others bad impression n popularity will suffer.Originally Posted by xebay11

i dun think it's only HDB upgraders who are doing it, even before this, if u drive around singapore, u will realise many condo residents are also guilty of it.Originally Posted by proud owner
I would say it's the upbringing and also whether you have older folks staying with u, they tend to stick to these die-hard habits.
still think its the upgraders that start it all ... so non upgraders also Monkey see monkey do lorOriginally Posted by ht
look at orchard road ... i dont see this ugly display
why blame the occupants? if there is proper yard with good sunlight, i think they will not need to dry their laundry at the balcony.... blame on poor designOriginally Posted by proud owner
agree ...Originally Posted by Allthepies

even if got good yard ... morning wake up sun on living room side ..they will still hang there (maybe inside ) noon move to the yard
To kill germs mah ... sunlight more effective!Originally Posted by proud owner
Anyway, mayb those in atas district mainly non-S'poreans & back in their countries no such habit abt putting clothes out in the sun?? Hence, you may be half-rite about upgraders i.e. most in less atas districts fall within this group & thus, behave in this manner.

No choice for Infiniti residents as the small drying ledge that they have is actually a small planter area at the kitchen yard which not all will get good sunlight.Originally Posted by proud owner
Just some thoughts: Poor design or not, I thought the developer would have planned carefully already. Since the last time when I visit another development - 8 woodleigh, also by the same developer, the agent mentioned that the developer did alot of homework when buying the land for development. The surrounding, landscape design, etc.... That's why definitely worth investing in. Seems like it is not the same for this. The management could have more control over this and give some advice to the residents about maintaining the image of the building and for the residence staying in it. In turn, bring more value and prestige to the apartment. We do not want to be label 'HDB culture in pte living'......
Of course hanging clothes on the balcony is a mass market HDB upgrading thing. They're already doing it a Botannia as well. Looks even worse because they hang it over the glass balcony/planter box area. At Lakeshore they don't have balconies, so they hang them infront of the windows.(doesn't look too good) Then again just part of living in Singapore unfortunately. Carabelle has a big drying area, but I personally wouldn't want to spend 700psf+ for a 100sq ft drying area = $70,000.
Expats have dryers.
I think it's just a cultural thing. You don't see this too often in District 9,10 or 11.

don't worry lah, it is a generation thingy. Ppl will change if they stay in condo that don't condone mass display of laundry in balcony. Such act would confine to certain condo only. Afterall, nowsaday living in condo is no big deal anymore. The question ppl ask is which condo u stayOriginally Posted by proud owner
proper yard with good sunlight? poor design?? i think most people want NS facing. you want to dry your clothes, get a unit with full west sun then.Originally Posted by Allthepies

Here is an alternative view that I had posted somewhere else but relevant to this thread: I can understand where some of you are coming from. The unsightly poles in HDB estates can be ghastly. But HDB folks may be more sensible than you give them credit for. Sometimes it's the snobbishness and stupidity of condo dwellers in Singapore I'm more concerned with.
The dryer is a useful invention of the West which came about as a result of the cold climate which makes it impractical to dry clothes outdoor especially during the winter months. But we are in the equator where the sun shines all year round (when it doesn't rain, that is).
Why do we then not dry clothes under natural light and reduce our contribution to global warming by NOT using the dryer? The dryer has a monstrous consumption of power. Is the sun not good enough? Why do we blindly ape the West?
Like wearing suits and ties. What is the point in this weather?? Why do we not have enough confidence in ourselves to come up with our own dress code and housing behaviour that best suit our climate? In fact, the colonialistic Brits were more practical than us locals. They invented the bermudas long before they became a part of modern fashion. Remember the history books that showed British soldiers from corporals to generals wearing trousers that cut off at the knees in Malaya? They modified their attire to match the climate and did not worry about how they looked. That's a sign of confidence.
the old condo that i used to own .. my neighbour was a family of upgrader .. they burn incense at the stair landing ( open window) .. they drill the ceiling at the lift lobby and hang incense holder etc .. though they were told to take it down which they did .. but they continue to burn incense at the stairway .. i made a complain to the management .. after whuch they kept the burner .. but still take it out to the stairway to use ..but keep after each use .. by the time the managemtn or guards come up they already done and kept everythingOriginally Posted by Lucas
i have moved out 3 yrs already but according to my friends who still live there .. they still do it .. and now its the grandma that burning the incense .. and ntg the management can do ..as she claims shes old and cannot go downstairs whiere there is a huge burner ..
