21 Redhill blocks picked for Sers

Published on Dec 4, 2011

The landscape at Redhill Close is set to change by the year 2017.

The Housing Board (HDB) has identified blocks 1 to 3 and 5 to 22 for the Selective En Bloc Redevelopment Scheme (Sers).

These blocks, comprising 878 flats, were built in 1955, making them 56 years old. They will be more than 60 years old by the time residents move to the new replacement flats in Henderson Road.

The 1,200 units of new two-, three-, four- and five-room flats are within walking distance of Redhill and Tiong Bahru MRT stations.

These new blocks are built up to 48 storeys high, providing a panoramic view.

Other amenities nearby include shops, markets and food centres.

This is the 76th site to benefit from Sers, an urban redevelopment strategy to maintain and upgrade public housing flats in older estates.

Since Sers was introduced in 1995, the programme has benefited about 34,000 households across 75 sites.

To give residents of Redhill Close a better understanding of the Sers plan and information on the new replacement flats, the HDB will be holding an exhibition from Wednesday to Dec 13 at Bukit Merah Community Centre.

Eligible Sers flat owners will be invited to register for the replacement flats in the fourth quarter of next year.

They can move in by 2017.

Those living in the affected blocks who wish to find out more can call 1800-866-3070.
