    Default circle line extension

Understand CCL extension going to open next Jan 14. My question is:

    1. Is operator SMRT? So it will be a short service like Tanah Merah-Airport? So I can reach Sands from either NSL Marina Bay or CCL Promenade right?

    2. I always thought CCL extension is part of DTL1 which is supposed to operated by SBS ... now I am confused.

When was CCL part of DTL? Am I missing something?

    Default Prisedent Office

Circle Extension will link Maria Bay to Promenode.

    http://www.lta.gov.sg/projects/images/CCL%20plan.pdf

If you are asking why it was not going to Dobyt Gohty, it would be anyone's guess. My friend gave me the hint that President/PM Office is there. Young officers need to take trains.

If you read MM Lee's book, Circle Line should be the 1st MRT line. It is so critical, and Bishan interchange for Circle Line is once again under planned. (The other one was Jurong East Interchange. ) But this time it is going to be VERY expensive to expand Bishan CCL Interchange, because it is deep underground.

By the way, train ride with the Circle via East West Line and North Line is less crowded now. So good news for CCR.

    Thanks,
    Richard

I think the following map makes it clear ... basically the CCL extension overlaps with DTL ... it seems like the objective of the design is to bring everybody to casinos lol

Sheldon did complain abt the delay in the lines to his casino.
So you still think the casino target customers are only the tourist/foreigners?

Sands has unfair advantage over Sentosa after CCLe opens, they will say it is for tourists ... CCLe train frequency of 7 minutes similar to airport

    Default CCL and DTL

I've taken a walk last Friday after my company's annual dinner and dance in Sands Convention.
The CCL station is right below the Sands, the DTL station is about 50m away.
Both stations are called BayFront, but they are NOT interchange stations.
So train riders must come out and walk to another line - at the risk to drop by Casino.

    Thanks,
    Richard

So much for e wayang of banning of casino buses into heartland. Now MRT brings heartlanders directly into casino more efficiently. Get ready for more suicides.

Once completed, if I were to take the Circle Line from let's say Paya Lebar, do I have to change trains at Promenade in order to go to Bayfront? Or no need?

Default No need to change train

According the the map, it will be at Level B2. So if you take the train from Payer Laber, it will tell you whether the train is going Marina Bay or Dorby Ghoht. If you take the right train to Maria Bay, there is no need to change train. If you rush into a "wrong" train heading Dorby Ghoht, you can change at any station to the right train.

    Thanks,
    Richard
PS. I will try it out to see whether there are more trains going Maria Bay when it is fully operational. Let's hope LTA will soon link Maria Bay with Harbor Front to complete the Circle.

Thanks for the information. But we still dont know when this will take place. Looks like it will only take maybe 10 minutes ride + 2 min walk to reach casino once the linked is up for one of the ppty I owned currently. Totally unexpected.

    Default Jan 14 to open

    http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking...ry_738888.html

It will open on Jan 14, 2012. Everything is ready. You can see the staff standing at the gate to ensure no one accidentally enters the station.

    I love Circle Line.

I'm beginning to lose faith in the circle line and my new house is right beside a station along the circle line... Just a day after announcing that they will join Comfort Delgro in adjusting their taxi fares upwards, the circle line has another hiccup... sigh! Will such occurrences be reduced? Its becoming too routine and regular.

this is an election problem. they better solve it otherwise...

once the ccl opened marina bay extension, then there will be direct door2door connection from ur house to the sands casino.

    Default We need Mini-Bus system

The train system was down this evening. From Bishan to Yishun, it took me more than one hour by bus.

We need mini-bus system to compete with taxi and Bus/MRT. It also create jobs.
Just look at Hong Kong, the mini-bus is for locals, taxi for foreigners.

    Thanks,
    Richard

i like the mini bus idea. gives some competition to the buses, taxis and mrt. win win for all parties as the incumbent strives for greater operational and cost efficiencies.

Yes I really hope for a complete circle.

Last week I was at pasir panjang ferry terminal after visiting an offshore island. Wanted to take a train back to Dakota mrt, but realized i hv to make one big round the circle line. In the end I took the train to harbour front, hop onto a 2nd train to Dhoby Ghaut, before hopping to a 3rd train to my destination.
