Now there's a new plan off the coast of Sumatra - which is further from fault lines, but more expensive, as the electricity will have to be sent to the more populous island of Java through underwater cables.

Off shore island far from fault lines.... probably in one of the Riau islands near batam bintan.

The question is: can Indonesia build and maintain it properly?

It is not about the fault lines, leaks can occur due to lousy management of the plant out through negligence. I think if terrorists want to target singapore, they just need to trigger a leak in indonesia's plant and we had it liao

Hidden agenda by Indonesia to throw Singapore back to stone age by sacrificing one of their islands.

Confirm won't build. They have been talking about it for many many years already. Singapore also talked about building an underground nuclear power plant last year.

They might not build in 2yr, 3yr, 4yr, but what makes you think they won't build it in the 5th, 6th, 7th year .... If worse case scenario they build it five years later, what are you going to do? Everybody LL also
