    Property website for all

A ONE-STOP property portal, which provides sellers, buyers and investors with real-time information, was launched yesterday.

Launched by the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers, Nation Portal was developed in collaboration with several government agencies and is supported by major real estate agencies.

It allows buyers to conduct market research on properties' asking prices and market trends, and lets sellers and investors post their listings.

    Visit the site at http://www.nationproperty.sg/

Default SISV launches website with 44,000 residential listings

SISV launches website with 44,000 residential listings

    By ROLAND LIM

(SINGAPORE) Property buyers and sellers can now log on to Nation Property (www.nationproperty.sg), a real estate portal officially launched on Saturday by SISV Services which boasts some 44,000 residential property listings.

At the portal, users can get the latest property news, as well as obtain property-related information and data, such as a database of the latest transacted prices of residential properties in Singapore. It also features tools such as a loan calculator to help prospective buyers work out their finances.

Since its soft launch in 2005, the portal claims an average monthly hit rate of 3.2 million.

Besides its online features, the portal also integrates a Short Messaging Service (SMS) alert service, where buyers can register to receive SMSes up to twice a day for the next seven days, to notify them when new listings that match their criteria are posted.

To help enable overseas buyers to contact property sellers here, the portal employs 'Voice over Internet Protocol' technology to facilitate a call between the potential buyer, who at the click of a link, can establish a call to the seller, via the Internet.

In collaboration with eight real estate agencies, namely, Century 21 Singapore, Coldwell Banker Singapore, Debenham Tie Leung, Dennis Wee Group, ERA Singapore, HSR International Realtors, Huttons Asia Pacific and Knight Frank Property Network, the portal also maintains a listing of recommended property agents, based on the number of listings and successful transactions posted by the agents on the portal.

The property portal is also accessible via mobile phone through StarHub's i-mode service, as well as its Gee! portal.

Nation Property is touted as the only property portal here developed in collaboration with several real estate agencies as well as government agencies including Singapore Accredited Estate Agencies, Housing & Development Board and Singapore Land Authority. The portal is also linked to the Central Provident Fund Board, Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, HDB Info Web, eCitizen and Singapore Tourism Board Education Services.

The Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV) is a national body representing professionals involved in real estate surveying and valuation. SISV Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SISV which provides real estate data and IT solutions targeted at the real estate industry.

We are glad you like our website. We would like to again stress that we are an independent, non-profit website started by a small group of condo buyers and owners to facilitate information sharing and frank discussion on Singapore condo properties.

We would also like to state that we are not linked to any agent or organisation involved in the property industry.

We believe that there is always room for more information providers, forums and platforms on the web pertaining to property. It translates into a better deal for the average condo buyer out there doing research and looking for assistance, as he or she now has many alternatives and options to get his or her information from several sources instead of relying on any single one.

We are glad that more property buyers and sellers are using the Internet as a discussion and information sharing tool. That is the thing about the Internet - it is free, it is democratic, and it is on 24 hours a day. If there is any function or service you would like us to include in our website, please feel free to let us know. As there are no limits to knowledge and in the method knowledge is transferred, in helping you we are also helping ourselves, and vice versa. Everybody wins.

How we wish there were such things around when some of us bought our first properties years ago. We wouldn't have been so clueless then!

    Enjoy your stay on CONDOsingapore.com!

definitely biased in favour towards those agencies. What if an agent is not with any of the above agencies? What does "recommended property agents" mean anyway? So the new agent with no sales record won't get on the list? So what if the agent made many sales? Many sales just makes him a better salesman that's all. I rather have a agent who is honest with me than a stellar salesman who is successful in selling me a crap property.

How can official real estate valuation organisation work so closely with agencies? Isn't it a conflict of interest? I think valuation organisations should be independent from real estate sales agencies.

    Hi igotpressure (love your username),

Non-exclusionary rights of user and privacy law
We believe in a non-exclusionary environment for our forum. We believe that forum users have the right to read and post on all parts of our forum without being subjected to member registration and disclosure of personal information.

Freedom of speech and transfer of information
We also believe in letting forum users have the option to post as a registered identity (your username), or if he/she chooses, to post as an anonymous unregistered person. Some forum users prefer the former, others the latter. This is to facilitate interaction between forum users without the need for self-censorship.

    Protection of identity
In line with our belief in free speech, we also believe that it is not fair to put a psychological gag on a forum user who has got something to say, but does not dare say it for fear of reprisal against his/her real identity (by way of username).

Hence it has been decided from Day One that one does not need to become a member to post. One does, however need to join as a member to start threads. Don't ask me why, it is a technical problem .

I hope the above satisfactorily answers your questions. Please do not hesitate to maintain dialogue with me if you need to.

    Have a great weekend folks!

There goes any hope of mature discussion.

Really, mods, its in your interest to enforce registration for posting.
Any coherent discussions just get deluged by the cyclone of spam (both property related and penile-enlargement cream related).
