    Default Mother nature

In case you haven't considered when you are buying a property...

Earthquake http://www.ejse.org/Archives/Fulltex...al1/200805.pdf (effects on tall and fanciful ones like Reflections are yet to be seen)

Climate change http://app.mewr.gov.sg/data/ImgUpd/N...ter_2_-_VA.pdf (study was done in 2008 but apparently PUB was caught off-guard by the torrential rainfalls in 2009)

Dont worry, our most expensive and talented Ministers in the world will take care of it.

If not, how to continue raking in their millions ??

I believe out government has identified the "danger zone" - "the Kallang Formation" - the stretch on East Coast and Kallang mainly marine clay and fake reclaimed land. A moderate quake at Sumatra is sufficient to cause like 30cm of movement side to side and marine clay exacebate the problem and cause the buildings to collapse. Bukit Timah Hill area identified to be the safest due to solid granite. More work is being conducted on the risk of the Kallang Formation and the dangers the area is exposed to. It's no longer a small probabilty event - tremors were already felt in Marine Parade every time there is a quake. And if it happens, the consequence would be unimaginable on those living on soft marine ground.

Why only Kallang ? Isn't the whole of Marina CBD built on reclaimed land as well?

Trust me - earthquakes are least of our worries.

In 5-10 years time, new factors will come in.

Areas prone to tsunamis / abnormally high tides

Areas with high heat density (some 5-6 degrees hotter than other regions even at night - even now there is evidence of this. CBD, Orchard, Toa Payoh and some areas are 2-3 degrees hotter than, say, Bukit Timah or Yishun)

    all thanks to global warming
