It seems like a lot of Hong Kong celebrities are interested in buying houses in Singapore.
Just a few days after actress Carina Lau expressed interest in the property market in Singapore, one of Hong Kong’s “heavenly kings” Andy Lau said he had thought of buying houses in Singapore too.
During a Wednesday press conference in Singapore ahead of the premiere of police-themed action-thriller “Firestorm”, in which he is actor and producer, he revealed that he only invests in properties as he’s not familiar with other types of investments.
When asked by a reporter whether he had thought of buying property in Singapore, he said he had plans to do so.
But they didn’t materialise as the property prices in Singapore are very high.
The emcee of the press conference then told Lau that there are now cooling measures in place.
Upon hearing that, Lau said he hopes the cooling measure would work and that the prices will lower.
In fact, he said that he’s been “following the property scene in Singapore” and he has friends telling him which properties are good to invest in.
Refutes rumours of wife’s pregnancy
Lau also dismissed rumours that his wife, Carol Chu, is pregnant with their second child.
Despite widespread reports of the couple welcoming a baby boy in March next year, Lau said he doesn’t have a second baby yet.
But the 52-year-old thanked the media and fans for the blessings and said he’ll “work hard”.
The couple currently have a one-year-old daughter.
Bromance with Gordon Lam
During the press conference, Lau also showed his close friendship with co-star Gordon Lam.
The two constantly bantered with Lam telling reporters that it “felt great” being able to beat Lau in some fighting scenes in “Firestorm”, adding that he “waited for years” to do that.
Lau also revealed that Lam, who seldom film love scenes, specially requested for “bed scenes” in the film.
Jokes aside, Lam said he’s very thankful for Lau's guidance when he first entered the movie industry, while Lau praised Lam for his good performance in the film.
"Firestorm" is directed by Alan Yuen and co-produced by highly acclaimed Hong Kong producer Bill Kong and Lau.
It also stars Chinese actress Yao Chen and Taiwanese actor Wu Chun.
The thriller, which opens in cinemas in Singapore on 12 December, tells the story of a policeman who crosses his own moral red line in order to catch a gang of seasoned crooks.
It is also the opening film of ScreenSingapore 2013, an international film trade event held in Singapore.
