14 bids for Stamford Rd site

A UNIQUE 1.43 ha commercial plot at the junction of Stamford Road and North Bridge Road has attracted 14 tender submissions.
The tenderers include Orchard Mall, United Engineers Developments and YTL Land & Development.
The site comprises Stamford House, Capitol Building, Capitol Theatre - all three of which have been gazetted for conservation.
The Urban Redevelopment Authority said on Wednesday it will award the tender at a later date after the tenders have been evaluated. It is conducting the tender via a two-envelope system, in which developers submit their design proposals and tender prices in two separate envelopes.
The URA will first shortlist the designs they approve of and then choose the one with the highest bid.
The site has created buzz in the property market as it is a prominent plot in a prized location.
The site was launched for sale on April 21 after a developer committed to bid at least $100 million for it.
