Not too sure if anyone can share where will be the possible new MRT location in the north? In sembawang, upper thomson and woodlands.... i believe these three residential areas will be the beneficiaries of the new MRT line.
Found this one of the articles. Seems target is ready by 2018.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure about the NS expressway though. I believe it was announced once but I thought the government is going to shelf that plan due to its high cost.
Did anyone spot any LTA staff doing soil testing along Thomson and Woodlands? That may give some clue to the location of the stations.

Yup, it does look like there is a north coast line .. that's if u happen to pass by punggol & see that route leading to the east like tampines :2cents:

there are some action between sembawang mrt & yishun mrt. don know is it related? heard govt going to develop a "limpang town" at that area. so don know the "action" is for which purpose

You mean simpang? Possibly. My friend from SMRT told me there will be some 'reserve sites' for the line - so the numbers will not be sequential (ie not TL1, TL2, TL3 but more like TL10, TL13 etc) so they will put in more stations in between when there is a critical mass happening.
Simpang could be one of them, as could be Chong Pang - maybe even near the army camps for the servicemen's convenience (?)
But likely those will happen after 2018 when the main stations are built (like thomson, kebun bahru) else too much speculation (like what happened to Meadows at Peirce)

For the next phase of the Circle Line (P4 & P5 - I think), which month in 2011 does this open? I was under impression its March/April 2011.

If you mean the Circle Line from Vivo City to Marymound, it is still under construction - slower than I have expected. Maybe TOP first half of next year, and a couple of more months to be operational. I guess towards end of next year. It will shorten my jouney by at least 20 mins.

The Thomson Line (slated for completion in 2018) may be longer than originally predicted, with five additional stations, making it a total of 23 stations.
According to the latest Thomson Line tenders by LTA, the line is expected to be 30km long, which exceeds the 27km announced in the LTA Masterplan from three years ago.
The Thomson Line, consisting of 23 stations and 1 depot, will be built completely underground, and will run on a fully-automated driverless system. According to the previously released plans, the line had 18 planned stations, travelling southwards from Woodlands, passing by areas like Ang Mo Kio, Kebun Baru, Sin Ming, Thomson and Kim Seng, direct to the CBD and Marina Bay.
The Thomson Line will connect to the Eastern Region Line (slated for completion in 2020) at Marina Bay.
Unlike the other lines, the Thomson Line will run on 4-car trains. The most heavily-utilised lines (North-South, East-West and North-east Lines) are currently running on 6-car trains, while the Circle Line, which will be fully opened in the fourth quarter of the year, runs on 3-car trains.
When interviewed, LTA stated that some deciding factors during the process of planning the route and capacity of the line included the role Thomson Line would play in expanding the MRT network, commuter habits, and the distribution of residential and commercial space.
As the Thomson Line passes through areas that have no current MRT coverage, its expected future ridership is sizeable.
An NUS professor specialising in Transportation states that the Thomson Line would have trouble coping with rising demands in the future if it were to run on 3-car trains like the Circle Line.

No further update, await award of Package D tunneling works. Actual stations are not confined yet but they probably have tentative location singled out await for design recommendation and soil investigation before announcement by Tramsport Minister, likely in the next stage of opening of Circle line. If someone is cocksure, they will also keep quiet, quietly go pick up properties and wait for announcement. But based on engineering tenders, some would have figure out possible locations...

Well, it may trigger another spike to the upside for property market when the stations are announced. Just imagine 23 sites suddenly rise in value. This time round MBT won't have to sweat, as Election would have been over by then.

So far, take about 7 years to complete a line. For circle line, if everything complete end of this year, would have taken about 8.5 years...So construction for Thomson line should start by end of this year...so that 2018 can complete or start operating...

Maybe the upside of CCR condos will be delayed further as there are options for D23 FH and Condos surrounding TL.

met few agent recently, they are using the NS expressway as a selling pts, saying that will ease the transport for the Northern side...TL seem out of Sembwang area...
they mentioned that northen side is very popular for the Pinyos and china
