Poor sound insulation in condo

Is it normal to be able to hear very clearly footsteps and doors being closed from your upstairs neighbour? Is it true the developers do not provide sound insulation for ceilings?

In Australia..it is.. and I am talking about the priciest condo down to the old queenslander in brisbane.

Is that why most apts in Aust are carpeted?

No one knows abt S'pore apts? I have never encountered this problem before in HDB apts. Condo quality is even worse than HDB??

I have only heard of sound insulation with HDB flats (even saw letters to forum complaining about this). Never heard or seen anybody complain about private properties. If there are, care to share which project it is?
