US Federal Reserve slows money printing

Just days after the RBA admitted inflation is rising but it is committed to keeping interest rates close to zero for the next 12 months, the US Federal Reserve overnight has started to withdraw stimulus from the American economy.
Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says central banks are concerned about the rebound from COVID strengthening economies, resulting in inflation.
Mr Greenwood said central banks are hoping that as economies stabilise, the inflation will disappear and things will go back to pre-pandemic normal.
He said this is not likely as some commodity prices are very strong and the world faces supply shortages, both of which drive up the cost of goods.
As a result of the rising prices, the Federal Reserve has indicated it will begin to withdraw its bond-buying program at a rate of $15 billion a month.
The Federal Reserve hopes to end the scheme completely by the middle of 2022.
