At 28, I bought my first house in 1986 at the deep of a recession with zero cash. Paid deposit with CPF savings money and took a loan.

This Kampung house at Lorong Sarina sits on 4800 sq ft of freehold land. Price was SGD177,000. Only $37.50 psf !! It's like 6x HDB 3-rooms flat size.
Never imagined that landed property could be cheaper than HDB resale flat psf. But it was a recession and panic selling was everywhere.
Emporium Holdings just went bankrupt that year. It was the main supermarket in Singapore like NTUC Fairprice those days.
