Since its global launch, Airbnb has gained popularity.

Singapore is one of the many favorite destinations and many home owners have registered to list their unit/rooms for short term leasing.

URA has a regulation that all leases has to have a minimum of 6 months.

I am sure URA is aware of Airbnb.

We have yet to hear from URA what is their stance on Airbnb.

I understand that URA is doing some market research on this.

Is it a violation to list one's unit for short term lease of less than 6 mths with Airbnb ?

Every development there will always have a group of owner who know how to break the rule with total disregard of the management and MCST knowing they can't do anything to them.

Yes indeed it is a huge business especially in Singapore. Do a quick background check and you can easily for some airbnb profiles, there are many who owns multiple properties and almost running like a Hotel style or "Condotel". The regulations thus far are pretty vague and authorities usually close one eye unless someone escalates it then they have no choice but to investigate
