His huge living area consists of two villas pompously decorated like a palace, and a huge swimming pool surrounded by golden palm trees on a 0.4ha garden.
There was a safe as big as a refrigerator to keep his valuables inside the villa, estimated to hold some 200mil baht (S$730,000).
Zhang was said to be calm when the police arrived, but later became uncooperative, questioning why the officers were arresting him.
He offered money to the officers several times, but no one entertained him.
When he realised Interpol officers were present, his attitude changed for the better.
However, he was bundled away with his wife, Yoyo Wang Wenfang, 29, and his aide.
According to Thai newspaper Manager Daily, Zhang, who founded the controversial YSLM multi-level marketing outfit, was arrested by police over a pyramid scheme that reportedly duped people in China and Malaysia of nine billion baht.
It added that the valuables found inside the villa were just the "tip of the iceberg".
