SINGAPORE: The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) has weighed in with advice on the recently-discovered bug in Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE).
In a Facebook post, Singapore's IDA said users "can opt to use a different browser" until a patch is available.
Alternatively, IDA recommended that users install EMET 4.1, which it said "helps to mitigate the exploitation" of the vulnerability found in IE.
As a second step, users should also set IE's Internet and local intranet security zone settings to "High", to block ActiveX Controls and Active Scripting in these zones.
IDA also recommended that users refer to Microsoft's Security Advisory, or visit SingCERT.
Government agencies have also been reminded to "adopt good cyber security practices such as checking systems, fixing vulnerabilities and patching software".
IDA is continuing to monitor the situation.
