A FLOOD of potential buyers forced Hong Leong Holdings to extend the opening hours for the first-day preview of its new Commonwealth Towers on Sunday.

The developer pushed back the closing time from 8pm to 10pm to accommodate more than 1,500 people who turned up at the showflat in Margaret Drive.

Many of those who attended pre-registered their interest in the development.

The 99-year leasehold condominium consists of two 43- storey blocks comprising mostly one- and two-bedders, and will be linked to Queenstown MRT station by an overhead pedestrian linkway.

It is expected to launch on May 1 with completion by late 2017.

Hong Leong Holdings' head of sales and marketing, Ms Betsy Chng, said in a statement yesterday: "If the response to our preview is anything to go by, we are confident Commonwealth Towers will be well received by buyers."

The show suites are open for public preview until April 27, from 12pm to 8pm every day.

Prices will be released closer to the launch.

Strong interest in Hong Leong condo

THE first-day preview of Hong Leong Holdings' Commonwealth Towers drew a crowd of more than 1,500 people on Sunday.

The turnout was so large that Hong Leong had to extend the preview hours - originally scheduled from noon until 8pm - by another two hours.

The show units comprised one-, two- and three-bedders. Show suites for Commonwealth Towers are open for public preview until April 27.

The 99-year leasehold condominium development on Commonwealth Avenue will be launched on May 1.

Prices of the units will be released closer to the launch date. The expected TOP (temporary occupation permit) for the development is December 2017.
