At least two firms are offering buyers and sellers a free “valuation” of the property they are interested in.
Following the Housing Board’s recent changes in the resale procedure, the companies, which usually provide property price analysis to real estate agents, hope their information would help in the negotiation process.
The HDB recently announced that it will accept valuation requests from resale flat buyers only after they have agreed on a price with the seller and signed an Option to Purchase.
Buyers and sellers now have to negotiate a price based on recent transaction prices.
HDB will upload resale transactions daily, as soon as they are registered.
The two firms, the Singapore Real Estate Exchange and Baize Technology, aim to provide a price estimate based on official sources and their own analytics.
They emphasise that their price analysis of a property is not meant to be a substitute for the valuation reports accepted by HDB.
