The former School of Nursing building on the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) campus will be demolished in July to make way for a new community hospital.
More than 600 nurses and their former tutors gathered in the premises on Wednesday morning for a grand reunion to mark the closing of the premises. Minister for Health Gan Kim Yong was the guest of honour at the official closing ceremony.
An exhibition of nursing tools and uniforms used from the 1950s was also held at the same time.
The School of Nursing was established in 1956 under the purview of the Ministry of Health, and was home to thousands of student nurses, many of whom lived on-site.
