Police are hunting for two burglars after nearly HK$1 million in cash and valuables was stolen from a luxury house in an exclusive area of Sha Tin on Sunday night.
The two men were captured by a surveillance camera in the Windsor Heights estate on Kau To Shan Road, a police spokeswoman said. No descriptions of the men were provided by police.
Kau To Shan is one of the exclusive areas home to wealthy residents that are regularly targeted by burglars. Other areas include The Peak, Kowloon Tong, Shouson Hill and Repulse Bay.
Toy tycoon Francis Choi chi-ming, known as the “King of Toys”, is understood to own a number of luxury houses in Kau To Shan.
At about 10pm on Sunday, police received a report from a foreign domestic helper, 36, after she found her employer’s house in Windsor Heights had been ransacked.
A bedroom window had been pried open, according to police.

“An initial estimation shows HK$500,000 in cash was stolen from the premises, together with two luxury watches and a ring worth a total of HK$430,000,” the spokeswoman said.
The owner of the house is understood to be a 53-year-old Hong Kong resident.
Officers mounted a search, but no one was arrested. Crime-squad officers from Sha Tin police are investigating.
The case was one of three reported burglaries on Sunday night.
A 30-year-old woman returned to her Sha Kong Wai village house in Tin Shui Wai and found her home had been burgled.
Police said HK$135,000 in cash and valuables were stolen from the house.
Separately, HK$120,000 worth of jewellery was reported stolen from an Electric Road apartment in North Point. A 68-year-old woman notified the police at about 9.30pm on Sunday.
The number of reported burglaries across the city has decreased since 2010.
Police figures show reports of burglary decreased by 15 per cent to 3,573 last year from 4,214 in 2012. There were 4,383 reported burglaries in 2011 and 4,543 in 2010.
