TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Floods in Jakarta in recent days have caused 5,152 people to evacuate and spread to 35 evacuation areas, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).

BNPB's information center and public relations chief Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said that the data collected by the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) until 07:00 am on Monday, January 13, 2014, around 7,367 houses in 31 sub-districts and 18 districts have been flooded. Although number of victims has reached tens of thousands, most of them refused to be evacuated. "Some of them refuse to evacuate although flood has been as high as 100-250 centimeters."

Water levels in Jakarta are varied. In Cawang Sub-district, Kramat Jati District, East Jakarta, five community units are flooded as high as four meters. The worst flooded regions are Cawang, Cililitan, Bidara Cina, and Kampung Melayu.
