Its not what an EC was meant for. It is for the `sandwiched' class who cannot afford a PC. It is supposedly no frills but look at the developers creativity... large PES and now private lift
It goes against the doctrine of affordable housing.

If not kept in check, it may be as outrageous as a private car lift like those D9 type. :scared-1:
New EC gtting more ex now but it makes the surrounding PC looks more ex too.
Heard one of the latest EC launches gives fridge n washer too, only no marble finishing, rest are the same or evening better than some PC in term of unit size n facilities.
Expensive PC facade n location are still better as compare to these new EC, then again new EC are catching up fast, look at Esparina n Prive, they are just as good as mass market LH99 PC in D 19.
$30k grant to first timer is as good as stamp duty reimbursement for buyers.

Happen to pass by the area so went to take a look. They developer did up the 5-room unit with the private lift, measures around 1688sqft. Also got to know that the non-private lift unit is about 30sqft smaller. 20k+ for a private lift worth it? For D9 properties, definitely a yes. Otherwise a big NO.
Many of the lift upgraded hdb units also have "private lift" . :rolleyes:

Quick Quick go complain!!!! How Can EC have private lift!!! bay sai one.! make them climb up the stairs!
use ah kong $ build how can! max max is lift go to 1, 6, 12 only. rest must climb! if not how to be fair for people !

wow that's cool. The last time i heard such facility was for some malaysian properties. They have private lifts up to your appartment.
why private condos' should have this too...

It seems EC are catching up with PC. I would say that if the parcel of land is near good amenities and EC is build in there, compared to a PC few km away from such location, EC surely Huat! I mean those guys buying EC has best of both worlds, 1. they get loan, 2.subsidy,3. their EC becomes PC in few years time. How many you think won't stay with their parents for a while and gain rent from EC then flip it to foreigners at a high price after their EC becomes PC. Not a bad investment. After that go and buy BTO. Got cash in the bank already..Huat!

I see some "Green-eyed Monster".
It seems that those whom buys PC always fear EC out do them...hmmm
EC's punishment is simple - cannot rent out whole unit or sell within 5 years.
private lift, PC quality is all totally fine - govt just don't want these ppl to make quick bucks.
I don't see what is wrong if somebody pay 600-700k with restriction enjoying big swimming pools and PC quality living.
Why we need to be jealous?
