said National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan on Monday morning.
Mr Khaw gave no additional details of the upcoming plan, which will outline Singapore's upcoming physical development, but added that Singapore has come a long way since its first Concept Plan in 1971.
"The underlying philosophy of making Singapore an endearing home and a clean, green, liveable city remains unchanged," he wrote on his blog.
The Minister added that Mr Henry Wardlaw of Sydney, who in the 1960s had headed the United Nations consultancy team responsible for Singapore's 1971 Concept Plan, had returned last month for a visit. Mr Wardlaw, now 91, helped conceptualise Changi Airport's first terminal, the Pan-Island Expressway and the first MRT lines. During his visit, he interacted with Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) planners and was "overwhelmed and astonished" at how much Singapore had undergone.

Singapore government is very practical. LH sites will always get all the TLC from governments. When they pump in $1, they make sure they make at least 10x back from GLS.

It's a tough choice. There is a chance traces of radioactive elements is present in the underground soil for eg. Radon. Fortunately, I am quite confident I don't need to stay in the west or underground! I want my Vitamin D too!

You guys and gals, please carry on without me.

You must be kidding. Pollution is everywhere, soil and water can be contaminated too ...

There is a good reason why the large majority is living above ground.

If there is a day the government wants people to live underground, I'd want to see them take the lead in moving their own homes there.

Well, I'd only stay underground if there is an air strike against Singapore. Other than that, I'd prefer those 2 to take the spots and be the test beds!

I am not too sure about Singapore soil, but some parts of Europe has Radon contamination, which has the tendency to cause lung cancer when exposed.

Talking about earthworms, have you seen earthworm rushing to the soil surface when there is a flood?

With the record rainfall and rising sea level, wonder if Teddy and Mermaid can escape drowning when there is a flood. It's so common these days. Maybe only mermaid can escape .. and Teddy will kena trapped.

Yah, I will go sleep as well. Zzzzzzzzz.

Actually the land use plan unveiled earlier this year already contains the broad strokes... Even the more controversial issues such as possible reclamation of the entire east coast stretch (which means the seaview touted by the D15/16 condos lining east coast park will most potentially disappear), the conversion of golf courses into residential or white sites, and movement of Pasir panjang port to Tuas such that the southern coast area will become an extension of the business and financial district.

The broad strokes are already out in the public domain. I guess now is the finer details, such as whether height limits/plot ratios get raised etc.

that is correct. What we are going to see in the MP2013 are more details of what government are going to do with the reserved site, which will pretty much determine GLSs for the next 5 years.

I would expect we will see more details of what the governments are going to do with the Marina Bay area and other regional hub, plus which golf course are likely to make way for development.

Keppel country club should be 1 to make way....

It will be interesting to see what URA are going to do with the site and what kind of plot ratio.

With the massive southern coast land coming on stream in the next 10 to 15 years, I think plot ratio for that area will likely to be low so that government could fill up that land area quickly to generate income.
