Police also recovered S$7,800 during arrest, believed to be part of the loot

JOHOR — The rogue security guard who shot bank officer Norazita Abu Bakar dead before running away with RM450,000 (S$175,000) from the Ambank branch in Subang Jaya was arrested in Johor yesterday morning (Nov 10), police have confirmed.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed the arrest but declined to elaborate saying a press statement will be issued soon.

The suspect has been identified as a 37-year-old Sabahan who allegedly used a fake identity card to obtain employment as a security guard.
Bernama reported that while in Johor the suspect had tried to obtain help from a syndicate to get a fake passport to escape to a neighbouring country.
In the Oct 23 incident, Ms Norazita was shot in the face with a pump-gun after opening the bank’s safe at 6.20pm.
The mother of two had been working at Ambank for 16 years. A CCTV recording of the incident went viral not long after, sparking outrage from the public.
On the same day, police arrested three of the suspect’s family members in Subang Jaya and recovered RM20,000, believed to be part of the loot.
Two of those arrested also worked as security guards and were found to be using fake MyKads. MyKads are identity cards issued by the Malaysian government.
The Home Ministry later announced that the operating license of the security firm had been revoked as it had failed to comply with the necessary rules and regulations. Its deputy secretary-general Datuk Alwi Ibrahim said the “most obvious failure” by the security firm was that they had failed to vet the guard before employing him and giving him a firearm.
