Hi,
With the latest cooling measure, I will need to pay 10% ABSD and reduced Ltv 40% for Singapore property. Hence looking at other forms of investment.
Has anyone engaged or is engaging the services of private bankers?
Get to know a banker who recommends the following portfolio:
Cash 2%
Bonds 30%
Equities 50%
Alternative investments 18%
Risk profile is medium 7-11%
Investment horizon 5 years
Expected return 5-8% pa

I have never bought any stocks or bonds before. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Had met my banker yesterday and was advice that can leverage up to 4 times for some of the income bond funds with nett returns of 7-8%. How about gold?

DCS_2008, thanks for asking.
Yes, gold is classified under 'alternatives'. Recommend 5% ETF on Gold.
Could you share a little about your experience with bankers? I heard some are very experienced and help their clients earn high returns. I am contented with a return of 4-5%

Laguna, thank you for highlighting. All along I thought 5 years is a reasonable time frame. Have just cleared my mailbox

Hi,

Am a banker with one of the local banks. Would be glad to offer my service - no obligation. I cannot give any recommendations or share what my clients are doing here (as cliche as that may sound) as every individual has a unique set of circumstances that determines what they engage in - blanket statements are hazardous to financial health. If you'd like to give this a shot, would appreciate you letting me know. I always enjoy meeting potential new clients.

Thanks.

CP5211, go read the Bond Thread lah.. can have some idea.. i also like you never touch investment..but find the thread quite infromative..

due to various reasons, i am having 3 bankers advising me & my partners. I can say the bankers are all different and tend to specialise in certain products. the good thing is you can use what the banker A says/preach and verify it with banker B or banker C.

A good way to learn and in a way have a 2nd opinion. However, sometime you can get confused also.

Thanks stl67. I am reading it now. I am at page 10 of 64. Just completed the part where our dear Laguna went for 2.5 hour massage!
