We don't have such scenario in SG but I think the closest we can get to are those 2 shophouses between presto@upp serangoon and sunshine lodge.

first they cleared out everyone from the kampung. cheap cheap. then leave then land to rot. when all have been cleared, they change HDB selling price from cost to market based. then sell high high.

marymount is different becoz no longer kampung now.
