The company has closed an apparent loophole at its promotion page that offered an upgrade to Windows 8 for a discounted US$14.99 price. The full price for a digital copy is US$39.99. Intended for those who had bought a new Windows 7 PC within the qualifying period (June 2, 2012 to Jan 31, 2013), the Windows Upgrade Offer Web site appeared to work on a honor system.
