Access more public data on this online map
This means more public data linked to map location information is available on OneMap.

More public agencies are now offering services and data on one of the country's most-updated online mapping systems, the Singapore Land Authority's OneMap.

There are now 81 participating government agencies, a jump from 16 when the free mapping system was launched in March 2010.

This means more public data linked to map location information is available on OneMap.

One example of a public-sector application of OneMap is the Urban Redevelopment Authority's Property Market Information, Singapore app for iPhones and iPads.

Released in November last year, the app allows the public to view the location of housing projects as well as check the sale and rental prices of private homes by project name, street name and district.

Other agencies participating in OneMap include the Housing Board and the Land Transport Authority. Compared to many other mapping systems for Singapore, OneMap is updated frequently: Once a week, with fresh data from other government agencies.

On the other hand, Google Maps - another free online mapping system - is understood to be updated once every few months.

For instance, Gardens by the Bay - which opened on June 29 - appears on OneMap but not on Google Maps.

OneMap has also been used by many non-public organisations.

EastGear, a home-grown digital accessories distributor, integrated OneMap with its tracking system that was launched in 2010. The paid tracking system allows vehicles to be tracked across the island.

Yesterday, the Restroom Association of Singapore launched a free Web-based application called Let's Observe Ourselves Connect on its website, toilet.org.sg

The application allows the public to post reviews, comments and photos of both clean and dirty toilets linked to map data from OneMap. A mobile-app version is being planned for next year.

Other organisations that have used OneMap include the Cat Welfare Society, the Nature Society of Singapore's Bird Group and Quantum Inventions.

One thing I like about Onemap is that it shows the actual width of the roads.
